"He became involved in the earliest New York DJ scene, attending parties set up by early luminaries. Flash played illegal parties and also worked with rappers such as Kurtis Blow and Lovebug Starski. He formed his own group in the late 1970s. Soon gaining recognition for their skillful raps, Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five pioneered MCing, freestyle battles and invented some of the staple phrases in MCing"

The minimalistic music of Pan Sonic is composed “from a forbidding array of pure tones, sinewaves, pulses, electronic squelches and ultrasonic waveforms,” and a humorous attitude, “skilfully arranged into an accessible rhythmic package” mainly taken from the bowels of custom-built sinewave generators.
Pan sonic's final live gigs took place in Bios, Exploring Urban Culture, Athens, Greece while there will be one final album on Blast First Petite in early 2010 Mika and Ilpo will continue with their own solo projects |

After being evacuated to Western Ukraine in 1986 following the Chornobyl disaster, Hütz lived as a refugee in Poland, Hungary, Austria, and Italy before moving to the United States in 1993. The group’s early gigs involved playing straight gypsy music at Russian weddings.
