Mary Anne Hobbs
(May 15th, 1964)
at the age of 19 she worked for Sounds Magazine
and later in the 80s for the NME.
A fan of rock, heavy metal and motorbikes from an early age,
she fronted the BBC Radio1 Rock Show
and the experimental / electronic Breezeblock
on BBC Radio 1 for a number of years.
Most recently, Hobbs has been a notable champion of the dubstep
and grime genres
she released a dubstep compilation album on Planet Mu records
entitled Warrior Dubz in October 2006,
and curated a stage dedicated to the genres at the Sónar festival in 2007.
